Last night we stayed at Dyersville for a purpose and that was so this morning we could go visit the Field of Dreams movie set. Anyone who has seen this movie would appreciate the visit, it was fun.
In the movie a farmer had a dream to turn his corn field into a ball park and if he would build it ... they will come. If you have not seen it you should it is a great movie.
That was it for Iowa, but it was such a beautiful state, here we are though crossing over the Mississippi into Illinois. We were on a run to get to Watseka to the museum before it closed at 4pm.
We made it at 315pm and thought oh that will be lots of time....not.
It turned out to be a genealogist dream, two full rooms of records and just the best people to help us out. However I have to go back as they did close at 4pm and we just touched the surface.
Rows and rows of records of our ancestors.
So we will go to the cemetery instead they don't close, Prairie Dell, lots of family here.
Frederick Miller and Mary Schroeder both came from Germany in the 1850's
Peter Hershberger and his family, did not expect to find these.
Edward and Catherine Fish
I can not wait to let my mom see what we found today, it was just so exciting.
