Cactus Spring League

Here we are and our time at spring training is just about over, it has gone very fast.
Tanya did a great job of getting us good seats at all 11 baseball games and the hockey game.
Our seats were in the shade and were very much appreciated as the temperature was hot.

We had a couple night games with some great sunsets.
Curt brought along a new friend, we called him stumpy.

We had a few firsts this year, one was we went up to the Surprise Ball Park, it was nice but the concessions were outrageous.
Another first for Ron and I, we were at Camelback on Saint Patricks day.
Where the Dodgers took off their traditional Blue to wear Green.

Unfortunately it made Tommy look like a giant leprechaun.

A couple of other other first for us was we got to see the Diamond Backs play twice and we got to sit in the club seats at the Goodyear Ball Park.
It has been a great time for us but our teams might have thought we were jinks as the Dodgers won 3 of the 10 games we watched of them, the Coyotes were beat by the Canucks and when Tanya a crew went to the World Baseball, Canada lost to the US.
One last night game tonight at Camelback Dodgers vs White Soxs.

In the middle of all this excitement we had lovely visit from Dick and Barb, another day we had Cara and Bryan for lunch and Monday we will go to visit Rick and Deb down in Arizona City.
Then finally Tuesday it is off on our cruise to Hawaii, stay tuned.

Our last day in Mexico

Our last day in Mexico, we spent the day getting ready to cross the US border the next day.  At 3pm we went back into Old Port Puerto Penasco and up onto Whale Hill to have our happy hour and dinner.
Up on top of the hill you find the lighthouse.

Our restaurant was the Casa de Captain.  Here is our crew going in, the restaurant grounds are decorated with frogs of all sorts.

And had the most fantastic view.

Do you remember the restaurant we ate at yesterday with all the waves, well here it is at low tide and it is on dry ground. Lovely looking downtown.

The side of the restaurant with the lighthouse in the background.

All the frogs were different and sat everywhere.
We had a fantastic dinner and the margaritas flowed, we have had just the west winter together.

The lighthouse on our way out.

What a great couple months.

Puerto Penasco Day 1

Nice to be right on the beach but when the winds blow you really feel it, we were up early and put some slides in and the TV dish down.
Our beach is lovely, first pictures is looking toward the rocky point of La Cholla.

Then looking in the other direction toward Puerto Penasco.
We are close to the beach but not beachfront difference of 15.00 dollars.
First off this morning we decided to take a drive into La Cholla or Choya Bay as the sign says.
Many lovely homes most overlooking the sea.
And lots of bright colors, yellow, oranges and blues.

Back past our campground, you can go dry camp right on the beach for 5.00 no amenities.

They are supposed to have a good restaurant but we did not try it.
Heading out the gate it looks so desolate and with the wind blowing so bad it was a white out.
Down in the old port with all its shops and things, the wind is producing a lovely surf.  The building is The Point  restaurant, we had lunch, very good.

What would lunch be without a margarita, oh they had strawberry, just like desert.
Was so windy outside the restaurant we had to hold on to our hats.
Now a little walk down the plaza, look at those rollers.
And the palm trees, just blowing in the breeze.
It was very beautiful and clean.
 The guys
 Looking back toward our campground.
The waves were creating quite a formation of foam on the beach.

Then to do some shopping, the fish markets were wonderful, got shrimp and crab to take home, yummy.
Great first day in Puerto Penasco

Kino Bay to Puerto Penasco

Mar 7th and our two months are over in Kino Bay so we have to head north, we have decided to take route 36 north up to Puerto Penasco.  It is a new route for our whole group, so we just went for it.
Out of Kino Bay about 20km we turned north onto a fairly narrow road but good condition, at least for the first 15 kms, then we found the potholes and we crawled through.
A couple transports pulled out in front of us and we used that to our benefit as when then went left, we went left, when they just about stopped we did to as there was going to be a big hole.

The first hour or so was lovely land any way, lots of agriculture, look at the grape fields.

After about km 55 we went through a wash out and then the road got much better but at times you thought you were going on forever into nowhere.
And then all of a sudden we crested and hill and saw the sea and Puetro Libertad.

 A couple big smoke stacks.
A first sign of some of the housing.

From here we turned north on the new highway, oh my goodness it was beautiful and we drove some along the seashore. The new road did not last long enough we then connected with old road and limped along.  All in all it took us just over 8 hours.

Finally set up in the Reef RV Park in Puerto Penasco and another couple joined us for happy hour. Fit right in too......

Our last day for Kino Bay

No way, it can not be over yet, yes it is.  Sadly today was our last day in Kino Bay and the weather the last few days has been fantastic.  I planted my ..... is the chair overlooking the sea, read a book, had a little nap, oh life could not have been any nicer.

Way out, and I mean way out there is an island that most days you can not see but today the sky was so clear that I zoomed in as good as I could and wow, there it was, hole and all and I even got a fishing boat in the picture.

Today we thought to take happy hour to the beach, so with chairs and coolers in hand we headed down to the low tide.  When we got there a couple of small fish boats were in unloading.
Their catch was conch and crab
We set our chairs up on the sandbar and enjoyed the sun.

Only our wonderful Newfie braved the water, although it was quite warm.

 We had a little refreshments.

Shared the beach with the wildlife.

And before we knew it our sandbar had shrunk and we had to make our way back to the beach.

What a wonderful afternoon, and then to top it off we all gathered together for dinner, Lona made the best soup, Isabel the biscuits, Lucille the buns and we brought the ice cream.
We are sure going to miss this place.
