Thanksgiving at Kings Landing

Now there is nothing like Thanksgiving with family and friends but when you are away you have to make the best of it and have some fun. We decided to spend Thanksgiving at the old Historical town of Kings Landing and it was wonderful, it felt like the many Thanksgivings we spent at Fort Steele.

Ron really liked the sawmill and I the Grist Mill, we spent lots of time listening to how things were done and about their history.

Everything was in working order, the print shop, the grist mill and the sawmill, they were cutting a board as we were there, takes about 30 minutes a board.

It was a picture perfect day.
They were having a scare crow contest and I thought the kids would like to see them, this one was sitting outside the grist mill, see the bags of ground flour at his feet.

We had dinner at the Kings Head Inn inside the park, 12.95 gave you soup, pickles, two pieces of molasses breead, turkey, stuffing, cranberries, squash, potatoes, peas and pumpkin pie with a cup of tea, and of course everything was made from the basics. It was so yummy and we didn't even have to wash the dishes.

The animals are very well kept and like pets.

This scarecrow looks like he had a little to much Thanksgiving cheer.

She was overlooking the lovely garden that she had just finished tending to.

This fellows head was made from a gourd, he looks like he came from outerspace.

The had a great display on the workings of the sheep wool, this lady was great color and told everyone about the olden days.

There were quite a few people but the park had everything so well arranged, there were lots of things for the children to do, wagon rides and haywagon rides.

These two were protecting the oxen that were in the barn.

This is one of the favorites, I am not sure if she pushed the door open to see what was taking him so long or trying to close it to save him some dignity.

On the ride home we came down the other side of the river so we could get a picture of our park.

This is Woodstock, it is a very quaint little town, we have really enjoyed our week here.

So the day was a hit and now today we have to get the coach ready for entry into the US, the next part of our journey begins.

  1. Happy Thanksgiving you two! You are certainly having nicer weather than we are here in BC. 11 more days till we are on the road south. Do you think I am counting?
