I had wanted to go up to Grand Pre to visit the Acadian historical sight, it is not a very well known piece of history but to me it is fascinating.
Along the way we found the most wonderful fruit market and they have it all decorated for fall. What fruit we missed in Newfoundland we are sure making up for it now.
Grand Pre was the sight where the English and French battled for land and the poor Acadians got stuck in the middle. In December 1755 they were deported, mostly to the New England States and even to England itself. After the seven year war they were allowed to return or move onward but when they returned to Nova Scotia they found their land occupied by the British so they had to start from scratch.
Longellow wrote a poem called The Tale of Acadia where a young women Evangeline was being deported.

They had a superb display and movie, the grounds were lovely and the little chapel was dedicated to the Acadians.
On our return we stopped at the Winery to pick up a bottle of wine for our host tonight and had a little taste test. The grapes are just hanging and look so ready to pick.
I was looking for a place called the Look off and had Sharon taking many different roads in order to find it, we came across a wonderful little bay where the tide was out, just look at these boats.
We finally found the Look Off and it was a spectacular view of the valley.
We went out to our friends Arnie and Myleta Ross out in Margaretville, she cooked us the most fabulous turkey dinner with fresh mincemeat pie for desert, oh we were so full.
We met Myleta and her dad Frank in Labrador while they were on their way to Nain on the Northern Ranger, another trip I had wanted to make but did not make it. Myleta showed us her slide show and her fantastic scrapbook, the pictures were so good.
Frank had also came for dinner and he and Ron had such a good chat.
Thank-you Myleta and Ross, you must come on out to BC.
