Wow, what an awesome day, we are parked only 25 kms from the Trinity area so thought to spend the whole day around that area. I had picked up two hiking trail info sheets so thought we might give them a try.
First off to Champney's East and English Harbour, learned later we should have taken the gravel road past English Harbour, might have been lucky enough to see whales but to late.
Another turn off 230 put us into Champney's West which is where the Fox Island Trail starts so we may as well get this one out of the way. One part of the trail is just 2.5 km and very easy and very scenic, but at mid point when you reach Fox Island if you want to do the last you have to climb a mountain and we decided we better give it a try. Places on the path, which by the way they say the goats made, were very steep and you pulled yourself up by rope.
Here is half way and the worst of the mountain climbing is over.

Getting down was a little trickier for Curt, he needed some better hiking shoes.
Tanya did excellent, this was just a funny she pulled on her dad.
Over to Port Rexton and Trinity East where we had our picnic lunch and toured through the gift shop of Trinity Rocks.
Around the Bay now to Trinity, which was having a festival and unfortunately this made the little town so full that it was hard to enjoy.
So we went down the road to New Bonaventura to see the movie film set of "Random Passage"
No one had seen the movie or mini series(as it is 8 hours long) but it was very interesting and we had the best tour guide named Fred.
Fred really played the part and got us very much interested in the film.
Of course on the way out we bought the movie, watched the first two hours that night and it was fun to see the set again.
So yes it is now 4pm but I really wanted to do the Skerwink Trail which is rated in the top 35 of all of North America. By the time we got back to the trail head it was 5pm, the trail is listed as moderate to difficult and only 5.3 km and they say will take about two hours, okay lets go for it. Not much more to say except let the pictures tell the story, it was gorgeous, probably the best I have been on, and so well done as far as walkway and steps. Glad we did not miss it.
