The first thing we saw was a moose, our first Newfoundland moose.
And then we hit the fog and mist and we had it all the way to Lourdes out on the French Ancestor Route and it was already 1130.
At Lourdes we thought we would stop for a cup of coffee and wait to see if the fog would lift but guess what ..... no cafes... So we turned right and headed up a very long skinny piece of land toward Long Point, halfway down the 21 km road the pavement ended and the discussion began do we go on or turn around. But guess what the fog was lifting, yeahhhh
Sharon did good, she was driving and she kept going what felt like a long ways going in. At the end of the road you go over a hill and there it is Blue Beach. But a little spooky as it was totally deserted, everything just laying out for whomever to take.
The coastline was rocky and spectacular and they had made a very nice harbour which seemed to be very well upkept.
There were boats just sitting tied up to the docks, a place for the fishermen to park but all was vacant. A lot of the houses had TV dishes on them but no one around, not a dog, not a vehicle, just no one.
Lots of character here.
Got a great shop of a couple Artic Terns that were talking to us.
On our way out we spotted way out at sea a sail and once I was able to draw it in with the telephoto lens, you could see it was quite a ship. We traveled along side it until we got to Cape St. George and then he turned and went more out to sea.
Back on our circle trip we came to Mainland, a very cute little town.
Can you imagine keeping a front yard like this.
Up and over the hill, a newer road put in to join Mainland to Cape St George. At Cape St George we stopped in to the tourist information and talked with a couple very nice ladies that said we should go back to see Boutte du Cap Park about 5 km back. Oh we were so happy we did, the scenery was awesome.
It's been a week already...before you know it it'll be Fall and time to think about heading south!
