Here we are on our way to Mexico, we stayed overnight at the Walmart parking lot in Nogales as we had to pick up our auto insurance. We are a convoy of 4 units with Doug and Isabelle Reich leading the way and Ron and I picking up the tail end. It was still pretty dark at 7am when we started out of the parking lot and only 4 miles to the border. In the picture below we have just weaved our way through the barricades at the border and are entering the highway.
Approx 5 km down the road we hit the first toll, see how much lighter it is getting. The toll was 164 pesos or about 13 dollars. Rienk and Lona Rienks are ahead of us so you will see their rig alot in the pictures.
Just past the toll we come to an inspection station and the first two rigs go through just fine but as Rienk gets ready to proceed through they decide he is in the wrong lane and must cross about 4 rows over. Nice try but he cannot get his unit around all the islands so he had the whole road closed, after a few trys and good driving he got adjusted and put it through on the other side and we just followed along.
Many little towns where the vendors were getting ready for the day to sell all their wares.
The first 40 kms were rough and took us a couple hours, the roads were very narrow with steep drop offs on the side, Ron had to pay very good attention to the road, but it did get better and the scenery was great.
Lots and lots of construction and when they get it finished it will be very nice.
Into some cactus
Now in Mexico they have huge speed bumps called Toupes, you just crawl over them.
Going through Hermosillo, the truck ahead is full of police riding in the box.
From Hermosillo to Bahia de Kino the scenery was wonderful, lots of agriculture.
Below are some pecan trees.
Not quite sure why this picture came out like this but fixing it is harder than I thought, so will leave it alone.
First sign of Kino Bay
Oh my goodness it looks gorgeous
The military passed us going through town.
Our park is about 10 miles north of the little town and right in the middle we make this very abrupt right turn onto a very poor dirt road, we had been told the road was fixed so we were so worried.
But just after about a mile the new road began....oh we were so happy.
First sight of were we are going
Road down into the resort
Our first happy hour, we are parked at the bottom of a peninsula and we have a view from half of our coach it is so lovely.
Sunset out the front window, everyone was so tired we were all in bed very early.
