Clyde and Jane Smith were over for a visit this weekend and so we decided to take a drive to Hedley and do the mine tour.
Upon arrive in Hedley we found a nice chap selling old junk and we had a good talk with him. He was selling the old car below for a modest 1000 dollars said it was all there but the roof.
Up on the mountain you can still see the remains on the mine where my(Elaine) dad used to work and this was where we had wanted to go. The fellow at the antique store said we should take the drive up the Nickel Plate Road just for the view.
Well we thought we better have some lunch first and found a great restaurant called the Hitching Post, everyone enjoyed their lunch.
Part way up the road suggested to us you come to a spot where you can see down the valley in both directions it was such a beautiful view.
We never got to see the old mine buildings as the gate to the Nickel Plate says Private Property and we thought better of going beyond the gate. But we did come across and old cemetery which was yes up in the snow, more snow than we have see in years.
It was very well kept and a good fence all around keeping out any animals that might accidently destroy it.
Going over the top we ended up at the Apex Mountain Ski Resort and were very surprised at all the buildings. Down the other side put us into a nice green valley and we found a couple sets of Canada Geese.
Out in the middle of the lake was a little island with a picnic table on it, it looked like a nice place to sit but didn't feel like making the swim.
The other set of geese were a little larger in size and quantity.
Very nice day, we did not get to do the mine tour but will go back in the summer when they come back to visit again.
