Last day in Savannah

Today we went back into Savannah to finish our sightseeing with a few things we did not get to do the other day.
This street is made from the ballest out of the ships that crossed the ocean empty, coming to get cargo, they carried it to keep themselves balanced. The walkways along the top are called journeys, they were used when the cotton trade was in full production with people going from building to building. This street is right downtown Savannah, it connects with River Street.

Lots of shops along River Street, including two candy stores, both giving out samples of the original pralines, oh my soooooo good, this fellow was pulling taffy.

The river was busy today with freighters coming in, they look so big.

This statue is down on the riverfront, apparently she waved her towel at every ship, awaiting a long lost fellow that said he would one day return, however she died a spinster at a very old age.

That same freighter heading under the bridge.

Now the next few pictures are not morbid, but if you look on line as to what to do in Savannah, they say go to the Bonaventure Cemetery, soooo off we went.
It was amazing, I don't know how many acres but so full of the most amazing grave monuments, the setting was like being in a movie. You sure would not want to be caught in here after dark, you would surely get the spooks.

One of the monuents that was removed to be put for safety reasons into a downtown museum was the famous one seen in the movie Midnight at the Garden of Good and Evil. Going to watch the movie tonight, it is mentioned all over Savannah.
