Today we did the Baccaleu Trail from Holyrood all the way around to Dildo, it was a beautiful sunny day, not hot, feels like fall is coming. The quaint little towns like Hearts Desire, Hearts Content and others were so charming.
In Holyrood we got out at the Boardwalk, lovely little spot and it is so peaceful this morning.
Up the coast we went, very slowly as there is another town every two miles and the road weaves in and out of the bays.
In Brigus we stopped at the Hawthorne Cottage, this is where the great explorer Bob Bartlett lived as a child.
We went down by the harbour and chatted with some locals and some people from Kelowna.
Off to Cupids, big year for them they have just finished celebrating 400 years, as their claim is the first English Civilization in Canada.

A little side trip put us in Hibbs Cove, where we met Vern, charming chat looked about 65 but must have been closer to 80. He told us all about growing up in Hibbs Cove and his love for fishing and building boats.
We are already running late so just a quick stop in Harbour Grace to see the SS Kyle and the monument for Amelia Earhart.
Off up the beautiful coastline.
Bay de Verde was a stop in search of ice cream but there was a little rest stop with some home made boats in, really cute place.
The very tip of the peninsula and the closest thing to England is Grates Cove. Here in the 1800-1900 the settlers built kms of rock fences to seperate themselves from the neighbors and animals from the gardens.
In Grates Gove we met a couple from Blind Bay, they bought some property in Conception Bay South close to St. John's and are going to do at least two years, if not more. They came out a couple of years back and fell in love with the place so decided to try it out.
Ron and Curtis thought they needed their picture taken in Dildo, we were told that the town had thought of changing its name but after a town meeting and lots of objections said that it was what brought visitors in, so it was left as Dildo.
