The Gaspe Peninsula

Well we could not have asked for a better day to go up the Gaspe Peninsula, the sky was almost cloudless, the temperature warm and Ron says he had a tail wind most of the way.

The first 150 kilometers was flat, driving along side the St. Lawrence, small little towns were spaced about every 15 to 20 kilometers but we were not in a hurry.

Then we hit a section that gave the coach a good workout, extremely long steep grades up starting from almost a dead stop out of a little village and then 10 - 17 percent downgrades into the next little village. This went on until we got up to Riviere de Renaud, where you turn the top of the peninsula and head for the town of Gaspe. We stopped here for a little lunch at a pull out.

We arrived in Perce about 2pm and it was still so sunny but directly ahead we could see a fog bank, now our campsite is only 1.4 km out of Perce but by the time we got there the fog bank had moved in and that was it. They say it is supposed to be sunny again tomorrow, hope they are correct so I can take you some pictures of Perce Rock.

No TV reception so taught Grandma and Poppa to play pegs and jokers, and have now tucked them into bed.
