Our new home for the summer

Our new home for the summer is in Keremeos and we are very excited to be here.  To get to our house you cross the Red Bridge.

It felt quite something crossing the bridge for the first time in the coach but there is ample room.

We have Lona and Rienk for company for a few days and today we took a drive up the Ashnola River Road to see what we could see.  This bridge is the hiking bridge that leads to the Cathederal Provinical Park.

On our way home we came across a whole herd of Rockey Mountain Bighorn Sheep.

They were way up on the ridge knocking down the rocks.

Look at this fellow looking down at us.

There were lots of babies.

Here is our actual home, it is 3/4 of an acre and we are parked close to the back, Lona and Rienk are parked close to the road coming in.

The road we live on is a dead end road so it is very quiet.

And the scenery is very nice with us sitting between the two mountains.  We also have fruit trees all around us, I just cannot wait.

Wupatki, Sunset Crater and Walnut Canyon

Had an awesome day with friends at three National Monuments that we had never visited.
The Monuments were however all up at Flagstaff so we had to suffer through the wind and cooool weather.

The first park was the Wupatki National Monument and it is quite large with five different ruin sites.
This one is the Lomaki Pueblo in the Box Canyon.

The box canyon was a very large earthquake crack and we were allowed to go right into these ruins.

Here we have the main Wupatki ruins, the circles are meeting places.

It was a very large set of ruins often made between natural laying rocks.

Look at this little fellow, Dick had to get his attention so we could get his picture.

It was a very large set of ruins, so thankful that things like this were kept for us to see, they are about 800 years old.

Off to the Sunset Crater, it blew between the year of 1040 to 1100.

The Lava flows are amazing, it was one powerful blast.

Next stop Walnut Canyon which involved us walking down into a large canyon and walking around an island where you could see over 300 homes from the 1100's in the mountainside, it must have been some community.

The homes were are build at one level in the rocks where the stone had been eroded away and made perfect shelters with overhangs to keep the rain and snow out, remember we are at 7000 feet elevation.

We got to walk right past many of the homes on the island.

If you look close you can see the trail around the island on the left hand side of the photo.

Really enjoyed three such totally different monuments in an area we had not explored before with great company, thanks for taking us Dick and Barb.

Sedona and Montezuma Castle

Off yesterday to Sedona and then Montezumas Castle, it was a cool and very windy day but we made the best of it as it was Larry and Sharons last day with us and we wanted them to see as much as they could.
The first two pictures of from the airport but the sun was pretty bright so the pictures do not do the colors justise.

Downtown Sedona, one of the many statues with a blooming tree in the background.

Oh I can not resist chocolate, I blame my dad for that, I think our whole family loves candy. Had to have

just a little of this ladys fudge.

A nice view out the back of Sedona

A red blooming cactus at the Montezuma Castle National Park.

Always so amazing to look at the ruins of the Montezuma Castle.

The grand old Arizona Sycamore trees, one year I am going to come when they have their leaves.

Well got to sign off we are off early this morning for a ride up to Wupatki, Sunset Crater and the Walnut Canyon so stay tuned for more photos.
